Ceasefire violations: "Horrible, Disappointing and shameful" says South Sudan Civil Society forum

South Sudan civil society activists are demanding strict enforcement of the Cessation of Hostilities agreement by the government and opposition forces, a day after violations were reported in some parts of the country.

In a statement released by the Army spokesperson, Brigadier Lul Ruai, government documented violations in Amadi, Awiel East, Fashoda, Northern Liech, and Yei River.

In Northern Liech, the violations resulted in the death of 13 civilians and some displacements of people.

Speaking to Miraya Breakfast show, Geoffrey Duke and Jacob Bul, both members of the South Sudan civil society forum, said violations must stop now, because the viability of the peace process depends on this.
