JMEC announces set of recommendations to facilitate the timely implementation of the R-ARCSS

The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission – JMEC, has announced a set of recommendations aimed to facilitate the timely implementation of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the conflict in South Sudan.

The recommendations are contained in the second progress report compiled by JMEC coming a month since the agreement was signed.

While acknowledging some progress by the parties in building confidence, JMEC says there is need for regional guarantors to ensure the prevalence of a conducive political and security environment in Juba.

Dr. Thomson Fontaine JMEC’s acting Deputy Chief of Staff-Strategy, told Miraya Breakfast Show that confidence building measures are critical to the implementation of the agreement.
