SSPDF calls on Ceasefire Monitors and UNMISS to investigate fighting in Nyori

The Civil- Military relations officer in Yei town, has called for the speedy deployment of ceasefire monitors to investigate the fighting between two opposition groups in Nyori area of Yei River state.

Speaking to Radio Miraya, Lt Col Michael Machar, confirmed that the clashes in Nyori pitted SPLA-IO fighters under Riek Machar’s against the National Salvation Front, resulting into massive dis-placement.

Lt. Col Micheal Machar says there is an urgent need for the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring & Verification Mechanism teams and UNMISS to visit Nyor and investigate the fighting that has spanned over one week.
