Journalists are the ‘voice of the public,’ says Human Rights media professional

The Canadian based ‘Journalist for Human Rights’ organization was part of a joint symposium in Juba on the national media policy.

The one-day programme was organized in collaboration with the Media Authority to strengthen media in South Sudan.  

It brought together media houses and government officials to get a better understanding of the media laws and related issues of freedom of speech and democracy.

Laura Bain, team leader of the Journalists for Human Rights office in Juba, spoke to Miraya's Abraham Malek about the significance of the symposium.
