Gorom Refuge Camp in the eyes of South Sudan's female journalists

The plight of refugees in South Sudan has been in the news, with refugees caught on camera in their terrible and frustrated moments. 

These stories have often been covered by male journalists and the narrative has been a portrayal of refugees as victims.

Last week, a team of female journalists supported by Journalists for Human Rights initiative and the UN high commission for refugees travelled to Gorom Refugee Camp to try to get as close as they could and get to change the narrative about refugees.

Sworo Charles caught up with four female journalists that travelled to Gorom and the team Leader for Journalists for Human Rights, Laura Bain for a chat on what issues struck their attention and how they plan to change the narrative about refugees.
