The civil society forum has launched a 60 – day countdown to remind parties to the revitalized peace accord of the issues that must be urgently addressed as the Pre-transition period comes to an end.
An eight-month "pre-transitional" period ends In about two months and the government and opposition groups are expected to form a transitional government by May 12 under terms of the peace deal, signed last year.
Rajab Mohandis, Executive Director Organization for Responsive Governance urged the parties to the Peace Agreement to step up both speed and efforts in implementing the revitalized agreement.
“The confidence that has been coming up among these parties should be used, strengthened and extended to guide our engagement and discussion that we have consensus on what will move us towards that peace we want in our country."
He added, "So this period between now and the end of the pre-transitional should be used effectively to ensure that we dialogue and agree on how we move forward that is what will help us as a country.”
