The Minister of Petroleum says the country’s oil is flowing smoothly and problems with importing chemicals for drilling, due to a strike at a port in neighbouring Sudan, have been resolved.

The chemicals had been held up at the port for three days. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth led a delegation to Port Sudan on Monday, to establish the impact of the ‘hold-up’ on oil exports at the main shipment hub.

Gatkuoth said oil is flowing and the chemicals are being shipped to South Sudan.

The Minister travels to Bentiu on Tuesday to launch production at the El-Lar oil fields, to step up crude oil production by an additional 35,000 barrels per day.

The total production the country is 170,000 barrels bpd. Dar in block 3 and 7 is producing 135,000 bpd and Block 1,2 and 4 is producing 35,000 bpd.

As of Tuesday, Block 1,2 and 4 will increase from 35,000 bpd to 40,000 bpd.
