Amnesty International is demanding that the South Sudan government provides accurate information regarding the apparent death of Human Rights Lawyer, Dong Samuel Luak and opposition supporter Aggrey Idri Izbon.
According to a report by a UN Penal of experts, the two were reportedly picked from Kenya on the 23rd and 24th of January 2017.
The report further says they were transported from the National Security Service detention center, also known as the ‘Blue House’ a few days later on the 27th of January and killed the same day in Luri in the outskirts of Juba.
The government has not made an official comment on the reports.
Amnesty International’s Deputy Regional Director, Seif Magango says the rights group learned of the apparent death with deep shock and sadness and says the government should provide answers to the public and the aggrieved families.
Magango spoke to Agole Alex in this interview.
