The Deputy Mayor of Juba City says the Council will tighten its enforcement of an order banning the operation of night clubs in Juba.

This comes after one person was killed in a club over the weekend. Deputy mayor Thiik Thiik Mayardit confirms the incident occurred near Dehavana restaurant and says no arrests have been made.

The governor of Jubek state, Augustino Jadalla Wani, announced the ban early this month and said while nightclubs would be shut, bars would have their hours limited to early evening, and would be forbidden from operating during the day.

In addition, it is obligatory for couples checking into hotels to produce a marriage certificate to prevent what he terms as ‘immoral behavior.’

The Deputy mayor says law enforcement officers will be instructed to enforce the order effectively.

Thiik Thiik Mayardit spoke to Gabriel Shadar on the shooting incident and plans to tighten enforcement.
