The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is embarking on a nationwide crackdown on the importation and use of polythene bags.
The Undersecretary in the Ministry, Joseph Africano Bartel says ministry officials in collaboration with Juba City Council and law enforcement officers will move to enforce the ban that was announced by the Ministry last year.
Bartel says those found in violation will face the law.
The launch of the operation coincides with the commemoration of World Environment Day under the “Air Pollution”, to encourage worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
Mr. Bartel spoke to Robert Ohia about pollution, rampant illegal logging and the ban on polythene bags.
