Dark Angel (aka I Come In Peace)
Nov 14, 2019, 05:07 AM
Cody returns from the Wasteland touting the discovery of another James Cameron classic, but ends up getting bamboozled by a forgotten 90s action film.
Back in the days when video stores were plentiful and Blockbuster ruled with an iron fist, it was a common occurrence to rent a movie based solely on the box art. After all, this was an era before instant streaming, so all you had to go off of was a cool sounding title and bad ass imagery (usually featuring explosions, blood and guts, or – the simplest form of enticement – boobs). But what do you do when all you have is a USB thumb drive with “Dark Angel” sloppily written upon it in sharpie? Well...you do what we all did back in those glory days of VHS; you say, “Dark Angel”? Meh, sounds cool enough.
I’m your host, David Snider, and joining me to discuss one of the worst titled action films ever are fellow cinephiles and “White Boys” Ryan Caldwell, Michael Althouse, and special guest, Cody Eastlick.
Listen as we discuss the most insane motivation for an alien invasion
ever; we rundown the laundry list of cop movie tropes on display; and finally, we check our watches and roll our eyes at what is perhaps the longest death rattle ever committed to film.
