Xanadu

When Mike and Ryan are unable to understand the complexity of Dave’s manic pixie-pinball fantasy, he screens the cult classic Xanadu to better illustrate his recent hallucination.

Welcome back to the podcast where time stops and the magic never ends! I’m your host, David Snider, and joining me as always are fellow cinephiles and roller disco fanatics Michael Althouse and Ryan Caldwell.

This week, things get a little trippy around Apocalypse Video. I know I’ve had my fair share of Mountain Dew Livewire induced hallucinations before, but this latest one was so vivid, so amazing, that the closest I could come to explaining it was by doing an episode on the 1980 cult classic Xanadu; a spectacular entertainment that truly transported everyone at the store beyond our dreams...and into my crazy nightmares.

Listen as we discuss a film that could only have been made by aliens from Xanadu (and Joel Silver); I develop a schoolboy crush on Olivia Newton-John; and finally, we cast the hypothetical remake by swapping out Gene Kelly with a certain disco dancing Scientologist.
