China’s Ambassasdor says lack of drainage system affecting road construction works in South Sudan

The Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan says lack of drainage system and reservoirs has made it difficult to construct proper roads in South Sudan. Ambassador Hua Ning’s comments come after a Chinese built road was destroyed by heavy rain along the Juba-Bahr El Ghazal highway. The locals in the area complained that the water way was diverted into their homes destroying their property. In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya's Sebit William, Ambassador, Hua Ning, says this was led by lack of hydrological information of the area.

 

Last year the South Sudan government and China through the Chinese company - ‘Shandong Hi-Speed Group Company limited’ - reached a deal to construct major highways linking the capital Juba to the remote countryside in exchange of oil resources, in a project known as the ‘oil for infrastructure project.’
