Ongoing clashes between disarmament forces and armed civilians in Tonj East County of Warrap state will not disrupt the disarmament exercise, that’s according to the army spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai.

Major General Lul Ruai says at least 127 people have been killed in days of armed confrontation between SSPDF soldiers and armed youth.

Radio Miraya reported early this week that the clashes started with a disagreement between a member of the government disarmament team and an armed youth that quickly escalated into a gunfire exchange.

Major General Lul Ruai says casualties have been suffered on both sides since the clashes erupted over the weekend.

The army spokesperson says an investigation has been launched to identify the individuals involved to allow the disarmament exercise to continue.

He spoke to Radio Miraya in this interview.
