Shearer: Road rehabilitation and increase in peacekeeping operations top priorities

The Chief of UNMISS says that the rehabilitation of main roads in Warap state and deployment of additional peacekeepers in the area are amongst the Mission’s priorities.

During his tour of the Greater Bahr el Ghazal David Shearer said UN peacekeepers will work with the local police to improve security in areas with high incidence of inter communal fighting.

Shearer stresses that better roads ease movement and boost trade.

Meanwhile, Warrap state Governor Bona Panek Biar has welcomed the decision to increase deployment of the UN peacekeepers in the area and pledges his full cooperation on resolving recurrent inter communal clashes in the Greater Tonj counties
