Health authorities at Juba Teaching Hospital have responded to twenty-seven cases of rape and physical assault within the last one month.
At least 15 cases of Rape and 12 cases of Physical Violence have been reported to the GBV clinic located inside Juba Teaching hospital from the beginning of the Month to date.
The fifteen rape survivors and twelve victims of physical assault were treated and provided with psychosocial care at the Hospital’s Gender Based Violence clinic, supported by the United Nations Population Fund-UNFPA
Speaking to Radio Miraya Head of GBV Clinic Dr. Samuel Legge Luala says most of the survivors are underage girls.
Dr. Luala says sexual violence is a human right abuse that leaves negative consequences on the victims
