Yar, Traumatized After She Was Stripped For Indecency

A women’s rights group says, Yar, a Bor woman who was stripped naked, and her clothes burnt because of indecency in Jonglei State, is too traumatized to speak to the media. The Director for the South Sudanese Women’s Intellectual Forum, Asha Anhiri says Yar was arrested on her way home from work on Wednesday the 6th of April 2022 and taken to the police station in Bor where she was stripped, and her clothes burnt publicly. Anhiri says what puzzles them is the fact that Yar’s clothes do not fit in the “indecent’ category. She says her office is in touch with her and they trying to find ways to support her through her ordeal.
