Continued logging in Kajo-Keji county in Central Equatoria State is creating tension in the area. According to Central Equatoria state minister of Local Government and Law enforcement, there have been reports of community hostilities, against the army and the army against the community that have resulted in a huge loss of life. Some state government officials have been accused of interfering in the matter, making it difficult to stop the ongoing illegal logging in the area.
The State parliament is concerned that although Presidential orders have been issued banning illegal logging across the country in recent years, their implementation has not been effective. So, what can be done to stop the ongoing illegal logging in Kajo-Keji county that has already created tension between the host communities and the loggers?
