The government in partnership with United Nation Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) will convene a National Conference on Children and Armed conflict.
The three-day conference that runs from Monday 23rd May to Wednesday 25th May, is organized by the high-level ministerial committee on the implementation of a national action plan to prevent and stop violations against South Sudan, together with the National Technical Committee for Child Protection.
The conference is a follow-up to a national action plan to end and prevent all grave violations against children, that was signed by the national government in 2020.
The Chief of the UNMISS Child Protection Unit, Alfred Orono Orono says next week’s conference is expected to come up with an action plan on how to better protect the children of South Sudan.
Orono Orono spoke to Radio Miraya about the upcoming conference.
