Nicholas Haysom: Peacekeepers can never be a substitute for the political will of the parties to end conflict.

The Special Representative to the Secretary-General (SRSG) for South Sudan, Nicholas Haysom, has called for enhanced concerted efforts in securing durable peace. 

Speaking during commemorations of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers this morning, Mr. Haysom said a safe and secure future will only come through inclusive political solutions. 

The SRSG further said partnerships with regional organizations, government and communities are critical for peacekeeping to achieve results.
