Profile Interview: Tong L Matiok - International Youth Day

On Friday the 12 of August the world will mark International Youth Day - it is a day that presents an opportunity for every country to assess their investment in and commitment to youth. This week, we'll be speaking to young people to find out about local youth culture, activities, and education, and to hear the story of youths across the country. We spoke to one of the young people in this country who are making a difference and paving the way for a better future for other. His name is Tong Lueth Matiok - a fifth year student of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Juba.
Having completed his secondary school in Wau he contributed articles to the national newspaper in South Sudan advocating for a clean environment and youth empowerment through peace building. Matiok is a passionate footballer and a digital storyteller and co-founder of the Ayiet Youth Initiative Support Program - an organization which supports education in marginalized communities by motivating volunteer teachers and provide good quality education. He is also a recently published author of a fictional book called, "Poverty Robbed Me." Listen more here
