The United Nations will be celebrating its 77th anniversary since its creation on October 24th, 1945. The United Nations was founded after the second World War by fifty-one countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights. Over the past seven decades the UN has helped countries come together to solve global problems. The 77th year comes at a time when South Sudan, a member of the UN, is implementing a drawn-out peace process while also trying to unite the country.
