The Role of Traditional Leaders in South Sudan

Large population in South Sudan live in traditional communities and settings where traditional leaders and system of governance are still practiced and command significant leverage. Despite the leverage, the political conflict reduced, and the communal and inter-communal conflicts heightened and are blame for the loss of youthful lives across Country.
The RARCSS restore peace to some extent and it is high time that the local government is involved and the traditional leadership is mustered to support the implementation of peace agreement and restore the missed values during the protracted civil wars in South Sudan.
Working of the hybrid system of governance involving traditional leadership and the national government requires grounding on the well-researched legal framework and innovative ideas that harmonious support the peace endeavour in country.
