Episode 2123, Nov 29, 2022, 07:04 AM
In this week's show a legal expert says the adjustment in telecom tariff is contradicting the ‘cheap services’ provision to the public stipulated in the National Communications Authority Act, 2012. According to the Act, the NCA shall have to set rules that guarantees the protection of beneficiaries by ensuring provision of modern telecommunication services at affordable prices and highest quality. The Head of Commercial Law section at the University of Juba, Deng Abraham Akech, says the current adjustment in tariff rate by 100 percent is not affordable to many South Sudanese citizens compared to their earnings. He, however, says the adjustment to conform with market exchange rates is in accordance with the Act.
