Cleaning the Nile River and preserving aquatic resources

The Nile River is the lifeline of many across the East African region and beyond. IGAD is implementing a project that aims at improving the aquatic ecosystems and helping member states to harness the returns of the "blue economy." In South Sudan, IGAD supported by the Swedish International development and Cooperation Agency (SIDA) is partnering with the Juba City Council on a cleaning campaign against plastic pollution in the White Nile. IGAD Head of Mission in South Sudan, David Kwaje and Director General in the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Dr Jackson Muso explain the objectives of the campaign and give perspectives on the blue economy and how South Sudan stands to benefit from its aquatic resoources.
