RadioStPete.com INSIDER news director Nanette Wiser spoke with Jose Martinez, owner of Sartorial and the Tampa Bay Times (who will publish a special advertising supplement with all the promotions and vendors) about shopping and enjoying downtown St. Pete.
On Thursday, July 18th starting at 6:43 am, come on down to the St. Pete's largest Pajama Party! The 51st annual Sunrise Sale hosted by the non-profit Downtown Business Association (DBA) of St. Petersburg. Get the latest updates here: www.facebook.com/DBAStPete
It pays to shop in your pajamas as some vendors last year (like Sunken Gardens) offered extra discounts and surprises for those wearing their sleepwear! Last year, nearly 50 vendors opened their doors early to hundreds of visitors of all ages, many wearing slippers and kooky pjs! The participating businesses for the Sunrise Sale are located along and around Beach Drive in the downtown core, going west on Central and 1st Avenues through the 600 block, out to the EDGE district and also along the Fourth Street corridor going North up to 22nd Avenue. This year, visitors are invited to gather at the 400 block of Beach Drive at 6:43 am for the official “KICK OFF” to the Sunrise Sale. Community leaders will be on hand for the traditional “cutting of the cake,” including City Councilwoman Gina Driscoll, DBA President Tami Simms, Vice President Jose Martinez, Treasurer Catherine Binger and Secretary Shelli Hermans.
Visitors will discover a variety of shopping experiences from bargains to unique items. The The Visitor Center and St. Pete Store, you can find locally-made goods, the works of 99 local artists as well as t-shirts, hats, candles, ornaments, and children’s clothes in a niche atmosphere that they call “St. Pete” centric. Check out Sartorial men's store, Shapiro's and Pink Soleil as well.
