Joseph Duggar: The Courtroom, the Bond, and What Comes Next

Joseph Duggar appeared in a Bay County, Florida courtroom on March 31, posted $600,000 bond, and flew home to Arkansas the same day. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Jim Bob Duggar was in Florida ready to post bond for his son. According to court records reported by multiple outlets, Joseph had filed a written not-guilty plea and demanded a jury trial two days before the hearing — despite reportedly admitting to the alleged abuse three times, according to the arrest affidavit.

The Florida charges are classified as a life felony. Mandatory minimum: 25 years. No early release for good behavior. Lifetime sex offender registration. In Arkansas, both Joseph and Kendra face charges reportedly connected to the discovery of exterior locks on bedroom doors — the same response the Duggar family disclosed using with Josh a generation earlier.

The family is not responding the way it did with Josh. Kendra reportedly hired the family's longtime attorney for herself. She left the family home. Amy Duggar King told Fox News she was not surprised that another alleged predator emerged from what she called a toxic system. Deanna Duggar — Jim Bob's own sister — publicly told Kendra to divorce Joseph. Jill and Derick Dillard said they were shocked and that they strongly condemn abuse. Jim Bob and Michelle's spokesperson said they were focused on supporting Kendra and the children. Not Joseph.
