Joseph Duggar's Defense — And the Woman Caught Between the System and Her Kids

Joseph Duggar allegedly admitted it twice before a lawyer ever entered the picture. Once to the victim's father. Once on a call with detectives listening. Criminal defense attorney Bob Motta lays out what a defense looks like when the prosecution reportedly already has your client's own words — and the client filed a not-guilty plea and demanded a jury trial from a jail cell without ever standing in open court. Joseph's Florida charges carry a mandatory minimum of 25 years. He's out on $600,000 bond and can't be alone with any minor — including his own children.

But the legal exposure goes beyond Florida. When investigators searched the home, they reportedly found locks on the outside of children's bedroom doors. The same practice the Duggar family used a generation ago. History repeating in a house full of kids. That discovery led to separate Arkansas charges against both Joseph and Kendra — four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment. Their four children have been removed from the home.

And Kendra is left standing in the middle of all of it. In recorded jailhouse calls, she sobbed about losing her kids. She said they were her number one priority. Then she told Joseph everybody still loves him. She hired her own attorney — not the family's. She told him not to trust anyone. One conversation, two entirely different women: the one trained by IBLP theology to stand by her husband without question, and the one fighting to get her children back.
