Children’s access to digital tools – Opportunities and challenges for South Sudan
Across the globe, young children are diving into the digital world in greater numbers, using mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and other digital tools.
Digital access is obviously providing children boundless opportunities for children to connect, learn and socialize with their peers.
However, UNICEF’s State of the World’s Children 2017; Children in a Digital World argues that governments and the private sector have not kept up with the pace of change, exposing children to new risks and harms and leaving millions of the most disadvantaged children worldwide behind.
Nationwide Program Host, Gabriel Shaddar asks; how can we empower #SouthSudan children in a digital age? In addition, how do we ensure that more of the country’s children have access to technology and the Internet?
Joining Shaddar for this captivating discussion was Mr. Tim Irwin, Chief of Communication, UNICEF South Sudan, Mr. Awol Endris Adem, Education Programme Specialist, UNESCO South Sudan and Mr. Alex Wekoye Nabuyaka, Commercial Director, Vivacell South Sudan.
