A team from the Joint Defense Board and the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) is due to visit Nasir county in Upper Nile State, where armed civilians reportedly clashed with SSPDF soldiers.

Deputy spokesperson of the SPLA-IO, Col Lam Paul Gabriel says the clashes were triggered by a misunderstanding between the SSPDF and a group of armed civilians believed to be loyalists of the white army, at a fishing site in Koat, then spilled over to an I-O base in Ketbek.

The acting spokesperson of the SSPDF, Brig. Gen. Santo Domic dismissed allegations that SSPDF forces attacked the opposition base in Ketbek.

SPLA-IO spokesperson Col. Lam Paul Gabriel yesterday said relative calm had returned to the area since the clashes on Sunday.

Radio Miraya spoke to Col Lam and Brig. Gen in these two interviews.
