Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 3: Four DNA Scientists Found WHAT?

The Caleb Flynn jury heard from four BCI forensic scientists whose work fed into one final DNA report. Andrea Weisenburger testified that she made the final conclusions after the team analyzed evidence connected to the home where Ashley Flynn was killed. 

Nicole Augsback, Jennifer Akbar, Phillip Irion, and Weisenburger described a collaborative laboratory process rather than one scientist handling every sample from beginning to end. Their testimony focused on how the evidence was processed, analyzed, reviewed, and ultimately reported. 

Weisenburger testified that the DNA testing did not reveal DNA in the home from anyone outside the people who lived there. That finding sits alongside the defense claim that Ashley was killed by an intruder and the prosecution allegation that Caleb Flynn staged the scene to resemble a home invasion. 

Cross-examination focused on what DNA cannot establish. Weisenburger said there is no scientific way to tell when DNA was deposited on a surface. She also testified that a mixed sample from the truck console was predominantly Caleb’s DNA, while she could not identify who contributed the additional DNA. 

Caleb Flynn, Ashley Flynn’s husband, has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The testimony gave jurors both the laboratory conclusions and the boundaries of what those conclusions can prove.
