Caleb Flynn was convicted on all nine counts for Ashley’s murder. His 24-year-old mistress, Alleigha Botner, walked out of the courtroom without a single charge. But the 107,000 messages between them went far beyond an affair. Botner texted Flynn about wanting Ashley dead. When he allegedly wrote about hiring someone to take her out, Botner’s reply was “so tempting,” according to testimony. She admitted coaching him on how to delete data, and she destroyed messages after Ashley was killed. She lied to the FBI. Ohio abolished alienation of affection, closing the door on suing a mistress for an affair. The question is whether wrongful death, civil conspiracy, or another theory opens a different door. Attorney Bob Motta and retired FBI agent Robin Dreeke break down the texts, the conduct, and the legal theories.
